1) Equalization: tonal adjustment
and correction to individual songs, a whole mix, or both. If EQing
is performed on a whole mix, or a group of songs, the EQing serves
to provide tonal continuity throughout ALL of the songs. No more
"sonic quilt patching".
2) Volume, dynamics and
overall program regulation, utilizing normalizing, compression,
and limiting. Again, these functions can be applied to individual
songs, a whole mix, or group of songs, or both. The same benefits
apply as in the EQ section above. Also keep in mind, the topic of
volume and dynamics are highly subjective, as well as hotly debated,
so we will perform these steps according to your specifications.
Our ethical duty is to inform you of the advantages, as well as
the disadvantages of too much, or too little volume, and everything
in between. Armed with that knowledge, you will be able to make
the decision that is right for YOUR music.
3) Basic noise cleanup,
utilizing gating, expansion, or both. Again highly customizable…ex.
getting rid of noise at the beginning or end of a track, removing
tape noise in the inherent recording, even performing specialized
gating effects. Again this depends on the project, or your specific
needs. Don't be afraid to ask!
4) Adjustment of the stereo
image…widening it, narrowing it, or even making changes in
specific frequency ranges. If the stereo image is balanced, we will
advise against tampering with it. However, again, if you're looking
for something special we will be more than happy to comply. Of course,
all of the pros and cons will be discussed ahead of time.
5) General assembly: Sequencing
order of songs, fade ins and outs, crossfades, all performed to
your specific needs.
6) Final assembly: Pq coding,
subtexts, track indexes etc. etc. performed to be ready for replication/duplication,
and mass distribution. Any extra texts or additions can be discussed.
